Each organisation that Dance:Street works with recognises the importance of Street Dance in empowering their students, providing them with a forum through which to express themselves while maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

The initiative offers various teaching options, from one-off sessions to long-term projects over the course of a number of weeks leading up to a showpiece event. The needs of each organisation are discussed individually to ensure that they are met and a project developed specifically for them and the young people.

When working in schools, our sessions will support you to achieve desired outcomes for school sport, PSHE framework and the Every Child Matters agenda. We are also eager to help institutions use Street Dance to support the inclusion agenda, where it can have particular appeal for hard to reach young people and those at risk of underachievement.

In addition it can provide extension opportunities for pupils who are gifted in dance and performance. In each case the initiative looks to develop the sessions so that the participants become enthused in Street Dance in a way that encourages them to interact, explore their creativity and keep active through their enthusiasm in the activity.

We use Street Dance as a mechanism to inspire, enhance and develop students.
